Hazel received her MLITT from the University of Birmingham in 1996, and MA First class hons) in Applied Linguistics from the University of Waikato In 2003. She is Director, and education consultant with Ethos Consultancy NZ. Hazel has been recognised for her work in education in New Zealand and the Middle East and is a recipient of several awards and nominations for programme design, research, and teaching practice. She has had more than 13 years experience working with e-Learning in a range of institutions, and has managed and developed projects, as well as designing and facilitating innovative professional development initiatives. Furthermore, she has conducted a number of related research studies into the efficacy of education technology and has presented and published the results internationally.

I believe that by helping students and teachers keep alive their joy of learning we can contribute to the important cultural work of challenging the current status quo in results-driven education.
Through mentoring and coaching, I support people to recognise how collaboration and co-construction can help them on their journey to transformation. I am ardent about working with people to encourage them to rethink what education could be, so that it meets the needs of all our learners, any place, any time - no matter what the age of the learner. I feel it’s also about recognising everyone as being both learners and teachers, with something to contribute..
