thanks Hazel, I'm looking forward to making more connections. I've known of this community for a while through Michael Barbour's Virtual School Meanderings. Just hadn't taken the leap. Now I'm in the water.
I assume there are some help pages somewhere on the site. Just made a new blog post -- more a cross-post -- about VR and Accessiblity
I was looking for an online exam tool for my students to help them pass as many mock exams as they want any time when in campus.. You suggested TAO and found it more interesting than others, namely Kaldin that was not enough open to add bulk import of exams and test takers..
I want to join because I just adhere to the aim of the community, taking advantage of the ICT in learning, but I am also interested in enhancing teaching abilities and techniques besides the ICT.
Just a note, I am basically working as engineer for power company here! but I also teach IT systems management. For the research paper you pointed out, let's say that I am contributing, but not really doing research!
Thanks for the invite and the warm welcome, very excited to be a part of such a diverse group. This came at a great time as I used the video of the young man sharing his Harvard speech today at our staff meeting. Was a great way to start the meeting around making a difference and being willing to challenge the status quo.
Hi Hazel thanks for a warm welcome and Waaliakum Salaam. My academic background has been reaching and administration at the university level. No I have been invited by the Virtual University of Pakistan (http://vu.edu.pk) to look after the quality matters in ICT based education.
Sure would love to share our experiences. Our decade long experience has shown that students online support supplemented with tutors communicating with the students results in their better performance.
Thank you so much for accepting me, (and a huge thank you to Monika for suggesting this - she's also very kind with her comments!) Thank you also for your comment about the blog. I'm working with a teacher in Chicago to run a reflective teacher blogging challenge for September as part of my voluntary role with Te@chThought to develop an online community of practice - also part of my research this year. Absolutely loving it. We've got people blogging for the first time - that's worth its weight in gold. :-) Looking forward to exploring the community.
Hola Hazel, Gracias por la calida bienvenida and thank you for this wonderful gift! Maybe we can use it as an image for Living Spaces?? I love it! Looking forward to connecting with other members. Hasta pronto!
Thanks for the warm and enthusiastic welcome. I've only just heard about the Ethos community from an ESOL teacher in NZ and thought I'd check it out.
I will try to participate and share actively, but my time is sparse at the moment, so it may be a slow start. I am also very active on global and local teacher communities on Twitter and Facebook, and that again stretches my time even more thinly :-)
Sorry for such a slow response to your welcome. I'm looking forward to more time to look through this great on-line site/forum soon with holidays just around the bend. Can't wait to read and share information. Thanks, Catherine
